HISTORICAL FOOTNOTES- The eagerly awaited new generation Corvette missed the 1983 model year, but arrived in Spring 1983 as a 1984 model. There was a completely new aerodynamic exterior with a 64 degree sloped windshield. There was now a one piece removable roof panel instead of two tops. Sole engine was once again the L83 with Crossfire fuel injection equipped with stainless steel headers and magnesium air cleaner and valve covers. A new Doug Nash 4+3 overdrive manual transmission was available. Body colors were: red, black, white, and seven metallics: gold, light and medium blue, light bronze, dark bronze, silver or gray. Standard interiors came in graphite, blue, bronze, saddle or gray cloth. Optional leather came in graphite, saddle, bronze, dark red and gray. Corvettes standard equipment included an advanced anti-theft alarm with starter kill. Other standard equipment included: A/C, electronic am/fm stereo, recliniing bucket seats, leather wrapped tilt/tele steering wheel, luggage security shade and side window defoggers. Car and Driver called the new Corvette "The most advanced production vehicle in the world". It was the best handling production vehicle ever produced regardless of price with .95G. Only 6,443 came with a manual transmission, and only 410 came with the performance axle ratio. 3,729 had Delco/Bilstein shocks installed. The 1984 Corvette could go from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds and topped out at an at the time incredible 140mph.

The Heart Of The Beast
The heart of the beast is no longer the stock 205hp slacker of an engine ,its now an alum headed L98 engine from a donner 89 vette .along with the engine went the CFI, (cross fire injection..ie crap ) Its looks and perfermance were less than exciting and were replaced with a Full Tuned Port system sporting a TPIS MINI RAM II ,52mm TB , 24lb SVO injectors ,and remote MSD blaster 2 coil.The stock l98 cam was asked to leave in place of the COMP CAMS 268R good for healthy mid range and low end power .that kinda power likes to brake things like internal transmision parts making for a long ride home in a tow truck and then asking for a performance built 700r4 done by Red Line Racing all this makes for a nice pull through the gears even if they are the lowly 3.07 dana 36 .now its best time as it stands is 12.86 @ 106mph
